Where is arcane warrior specialization

Combat Magic: With this sustained mode you gain several benefits. Also, this mode allows you to use Magic instead of Strength to determine what kinds of armor and weapons you can equip.

This is absolutely necessary for any mage who wants to be able to use decent equipment. Aura of Might: This permanent ability increases all the bonuses of Combat Magic, giving you more attack, damage, and defense. Shimmering Shield: A high-level defensive shield, this is another mode and will last as long as you can afford the mana cost. And that cost is high—this mode eats away at your mana quickly.

The shield will block a whole lot of damage, as well as giving you bonuses to armor and resistance. Most importantly, Fade Shroud boosts your mana regeneration during combat, which is essential since arcane warrior spells drain mana so quickly. In the Brecilian Ruins , in the Lower Ruins area, there is a small room that appears to be a destroyed library. The soul of a long-dead arcane warrior will offer to teach you his skills in exchange for setting his spirit free.

Knight-Enchanters use techniques derived from those used by Arcane Warriors. This specialization can be unlocked while doing the Nature of the Beast quest line. It is located in the Lower Ruins of the Brecilian Ruins. In the north-east corner of the map, just south of the Elven Burial Chamber, the corridor forks east and west into dead ends. The room is in the dead end to the west. Inside a small chamber which looks like a ruined library, there is a Broken Stone Altar.

The phylactery is hidden in the far right corner of the room, beside the headless statue holding a shield. It is not automatically highlighted, so for xbox use the left trigger, for ps3 use L2 and for pc use TAB to highlight all the items in the room. When you touch the phylactery you experience the memories of an elven arcane warrior who has remained trapped inside of the phylactery for centuries.

It offers to teach you the secrets of the Arcane Warriors in exchange for setting its spirit free by placing the phylactery on an ancient altar. Although the spirit has been imprisoned for so long that it has forgotten where the altar is located, the altar is directly to the left. By receiving the memories from the phylactery, you unlock the Arcane Warrior specialization for the mage as well as XP. An Arcane Warrior gives flexibility to the mage and the party and allows the mage to equip most armor and weapons.

Trading off on fatigue and mana managing allows the mage to be played as a hybrid weapon user and armored mage. This and high fatigue limit how many spells your character can use. Note that fatigue penalties also cause potions to become less useful. With equipment and attributes placed accordingly, an Arcane Warrior can mimic a Warrior or Rogue in base damage with auto attack but with mage abilities and spells.

See Arcane Warrior spellcasting for a complete list of spells that can be cast with a sword in hand. Many recommendations on how to play an Arcane Warrior can be overwhelming but it is key to understand all mage Spells. Knowing how combinations work and what does not work together will give you an advantage.

A damager can be either melee with casting or casting with a staff. If you are going to use your Arcane warrior as dps, be sure to combine it with a better suited damage dealing specialization. The upside is that you can now equip your mage with some of the game's strongest weapons for melee damage, and still be able to throw the occasional spell in to soften up enemies. Arcane Warriors can be setup to tank with the ability to wear heavy armor and manage fatigue makes this caster extremely tough, at the expense of a weaker mana pool.

One can take advantage of the specialization's strong defensive spells in conjunction with regular defensive mage spells. By activating Shimmering Shield , Rock Armor , Combat Magic , Arcane Shield , Miasma and other buffs, you can make an arcane warrior tougher than any class in the game. Be sure to enhance your Arcane Warrior's mana rate with proper gear and keep in mind that gear with stamina regeneration buffs also apply as mana for Arcane Warriors.

I suggest either replaying that part quick if you have a save then going back to your latest game or just looking for tomes that teach you. Dawnhorn Status: Offline. I just wish that I knew what I did wrong in the lower level ruins.

Maybe I did nothing wrong and I'm just not seeing how to actually activate the specializations I've unlocked. Apparently there are pictures in your profile that correspond to the specializations you've unlocked. To choose one, you click on it somehow. The problem I'm having is how in the word do you get to it using the Xbox controller? I am going to look at this again - maybe there is something I keep missing.

This must be a difference in the Xbox vs. PC version. I was just too impatient when I leveled up to see the specialization bar, instead going directly for the stats. You can't add a specialization unless you are currently leveling up. I got Arcane Warrior after all. The only other specialization that interests me is Blood Mage, so I hope this can be added in some other way as Dawnhorn said with a tome?

Hehe looks like I may have to install Awakening earlier than I planned Edited by greglin, 06 March - AM. So, I guess I'm out of luck. I saw a post where someone said there is a tome in Denerim after the Landsmeet, but there are other posts that say that isn't true.
